Brass Log

A firearms management and logging application for tracking usage, ammunition, storage, components, and reporting.

Active development Updated 12 Aug 2026 GitHub

Brass Log is a firearms management and logging application being developed with organisations in mind.

The goal is to make usage history, inventory, storage, maintenance, and reporting easier to manage in one place.

What it is designed to track

Firearm usage

Brass Log records when a firearm was used, why it was used, and the history that builds up over time.

Storage and locations

The location model is intended to organise firearms by facility, room, or cabinet.

GPS-enabled location tracking is a future possibility rather than a current promise.

Ammunition

The ammunition area is intended to cover batches, usage, allocation, expiry monitoring, cost management, and budgeting.

Components and maintenance

Components can be tracked alongside inspections, maintenance schedules, replacements, parts inventory, and documentation.

Reporting and accountability

The longer-term direction includes usage statistics, inventory reports, exports, and audit trails that help an organisation understand what has happened without relying on scattered spreadsheets.

The project is being built as a React Native and Expo application for iOS, Android, and web.

Updates from Brass Log.

  1. Shaping the first operational model

Brass Log is being organised around the records an organisation needs to keep: usage, storage, ammunition, components, and maintenance.
